I’ve been looking at a calendar and conversing with some fellow C&V enthusiasts (inmates) about meeting up at some rides next spring, summer, and fall.<\/p>\n
On May 11th, going to the Rockin River City Ride, a metric century in Evansville, Indiana.\u00a0 Registered for this one.\u00a0 Should be a good warmup for the Storming of Thunder Ridge ride later this month.<\/p>\n
Later in May is Storming of Thunder Ridge in Lynchburg, Virginia, which is a very popular ride and a challenging century.\u00a0 I’ve not done this ride before, but several other C&V glitterati have.\u00a0 Registered for this one. \u00a0I’m hoping to have the Masi ready for this ride., but if not, the Merckx is well set up for climbing with the recent gearing changes.<\/p>\n
In June will be the rescheduled 2nd annual Bourbon and Tobacco Tour.\u00a0 I’ve worked out a nice paved route for Saturday and a good gravel route for Sunday.\u00a0 It should be a fun full weekend of riding.<\/p>\n
July has the Ride Across INdiana (RAIN) that goes from Terre Haute to Richmond in a single day.\u00a0 165 miles, mainly on US-40.\u00a0 That will be my longest day on a bike by far. \u00a0Logistics are an issue when you ride from point A to point B instead of starting at point A and returning to point A. \u00a0The ride organizers have provided several choices to help with this. \u00a0Registered for this ride, dorm room reservations made for both SMWC (Friday) and Earlham (Saturday).<\/p>\n
In September is the Centenario Coppi, a C&V get-together to celebrate the 100th birthday of Fausto Coppi, one of the legends of pro cycling.\u00a0 A bike show is part of this weekend, so lots of bike porn to see and a C&V ride too.\u00a0 What’s not to like?\u00a0 Registered for this one. \u00a0Hotel booked also.\u00a0 I’m planning to bring several bikes for the show, and a different one to ride if the weather is iffy.<\/p>\n
The Tanner’s Orchard ride is planned for the last weekend of September.\u00a0 Rob and I enjoyed this ride last year so we’ll head up into the middle of the Land of Lincoln again this year.<\/p>\n
October is the Hilly Hundred century, in and around Bloomington, IN.\u00a0 Unusually for a century ride , this one is split into two days of riding over Saturday and Sunday.\u00a0 All reports say this is a very well organized ride.\u00a0 Registered for this ride.<\/p>\n
