{"id":1592,"date":"2020-01-02T20:17:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-03T02:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/?p=1592"},"modified":"2020-09-20T09:03:25","modified_gmt":"2020-09-20T14:03:25","slug":"2020-rides","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/?p=1592","title":{"rendered":"2020 Rides"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been looking at a calendar and conversing with some fellow C&amp;V enthusiasts (inmates) about meeting up at some rides next spring, summer, and fall.<\/p>\n<p>The COVID-19 problems have put a wrench in many planned rides, and some have been cancelled or delayed as a result.\u00a0 As soon as I have information for the rides I&#8217;ve included here, I&#8217;ll update this post.<\/p>\n<p>There will be the Wednesday evening shop rides, and the Saturday morning rides throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANCELLED FOR 2020<\/strong> &#8211; May &#8211; on the 9th, I&#8217;m planning on the <strong>Rockin River City Ride<\/strong>, a metric century in Evansville, Indiana.\u00a0 Should be a good warmup for the Storming of Thunder Ridge ride later this month.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve emailed the ride organizer asking about 2020, but have not received a response.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANCELLED FOR 2020<\/strong> &#8211; Later in May &#8211; on Sunday the 17th is <strong>Storming of Thunder Ridge<\/strong> in Lynchburg, Virginia, which is a very popular ride and a challenging century.\u00a0 <strong>Registered<\/strong> for this one.\u00a0 I&#8217;m planning to ride the Masi, but if the weather is iffy, the Merckx is well set up for climbing.<\/p>\n<p>June &#8211; a couple of riding days are planned in and around Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Good friends, good roads, and hopefully good weather will make this an enjoyable trip. I really enjoy riding with this group, so an opportunity to do that won&#8217;t be missed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANCELLED FOR 2020<\/strong> &#8211; July &#8211; on the 18th is the <strong>Ride Across INdiana (RAIN)<\/strong> that goes from Terre Haute to Richmond in a single day.\u00a0 165 miles, mainly on US-40.\u00a0 I sure hope it&#8217;s not as hot as it was last year, that was just brutal.\u00a0 The organizers are planning a go\/no-go decision by June 1.<\/p>\n<p>August &#8211; the <strong>Wabash River Ride<\/strong> is on the 29th.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t ridden this one before, so right now it&#8217;s tentative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RESCHEDULED <\/strong>&#8211; September &#8211; the <strong>Bourbon and Tobacco Tour<\/strong> will be the weekend of the 12th-13th.\u00a0 Road on Saturday, gravel on Sunday &#8211; should be a good weekend of cycling in the hills of western Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANCELLED FOR 2020<\/strong> &#8211; September &#8211; the <strong>Big Dam Bridge<\/strong> century in Little Rock is the last Saturday of the month.\u00a0 <strong>Registered<\/strong> for this one.<\/p>\n<p>The Tanner&#8217;s Orchard ride is planned for sometime in September.\u00a0 I hope the weather cooperates, I don&#8217;t want to miss the ride this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANCELLED FOR 2020<\/strong> &#8211; October &#8211; the <strong>Kent Jones<\/strong> century is scheduled for the 10th in Jackson, Tennessee.\u00a0 A nice route, good rest stops, and a good warmup for the Hilly Hundred later in the month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANCELLED FOR 2020<\/strong> &#8211; Later in October\u00a0 &#8211; is the <strong>Hilly Hundred<\/strong> century, in and around Bloomington, IN.\u00a0 Unusually for a century ride , this one is split into two days of riding over Saturday and Sunday.\u00a0 A good time, great route, hills (as you would expect), and fun rest stops.<\/p>\n<p>This is a tentative set of rides.\u00a0 Life happens, so changes are possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been looking at a calendar and conversing with some fellow C&amp;V enthusiasts (inmates) about meeting up at some rides next spring, summer, and fall.
