{"id":880,"date":"2017-01-02T10:32:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-02T16:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/?p=880"},"modified":"2017-03-02T22:27:12","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T04:27:12","slug":"ink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/?p=880","title":{"rendered":"Ink"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No, not a tattoo, but the ink for a fountain pen.\u00a0 There are a multitude of colors, some with shimmering gold flakes and multiple colors combined into a single ink.<\/p>\n<p>So far, I&#8217;ve purchased Diamine inks, in 3 different colors.\u00a0 The first was ASA Blue, which is a fairly standard blue ink.\u00a0 The next choice was Quartz Black.\u00a0 It seems that naming ink colors is a lot like naming paint colors.\u00a0 A lot of different ways to say the same thing.\u00a0 Ah, marketing.<\/p>\n<p>The third color I chose was Ancient Copper.\u00a0 I chose it specifically for another fountain pen, a TWSBI Vac Mini with a 1.1mm stub nib.\u00a0 This particular nib gives good variations in line width depending on whether the stroke is down (wide) or across (narrow).\u00a0 It gives your handwriting a flair, and forces you to slow down a bit for the best appearance.\u00a0 Since the nib is flat on the end, you have to be sure that you aren&#8217;t twisting the pen as you write or the stroke will dry out and you&#8217;ll just be scratching the paper.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_940\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-940\" style=\"width: 711px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_372.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-940\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_372.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"711\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_372.png 711w, https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_372-300x149.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 711px) 100vw, 711px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-940\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TWSBI Vac Mini<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I think I&#8217;m getting the hang of it now, but it does take some practice to write consistently with it.\u00a0 I make a lot of notes while I&#8217;m working, so I am using that as a practice opportunity (since I&#8217;m the only one that reads my notes) and it doesn&#8217;t have to be perfectly readable.<\/p>\n<p>There is one ink I would like to try, for fancy notes, cards, and invitations.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t normally write cards or invitations, but this particular ink is fascinating.\u00a0 It is Emerald of Chivor and I&#8217;ve &#8220;borrowed&#8221; this image from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gouletpens.com\/j-herbin-emerald-of-chivor-1670-anniversary-ink-50ml-bottle\/p\/H150-35\">Goulet Pens<\/a> website so that you can see what I&#8217;m try to describe.\u00a0 It&#8217;s pretty striking, isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_336.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-882 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_336.png\" width=\"514\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_336.png 514w, https:\/\/www.dalemorin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Selection_336-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 514px) 100vw, 514px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No, not a tattoo, but the ink for a fountain pen.\u00a0 There are a multitude of colors, some with shimmering gold flakes and multiple colors combined into a single ink.
