The more complicated tasks are done now, so we’re on to the final few bits (and bobs, if you prefer the British lexicon) of the build.<\/p>\n
NOTE: \u00a0Self-fusing silicone tape is great. \u00a0Sticks to itself but leaves no sticky residue like other tape. \u00a0It doesn’t get slimy in summer heat. \u00a0Definitely a good product to use on the handlebars.<\/p>\n
Taped the cables to the handlebars using silicone tape in preparation for wrapping the bars. \u00a0Wrapped the bars using the Lizardskin 3.2mm tape. \u00a0Looks good, has a good amount of padding so should be comfortable to ride. \u00a0And to my surprise, there was actually a few inches left over. \u00a0It seems like other bar tape has been just barely long enough. \u00a0Inserted the plugs and that’s done.<\/span><\/p>\n Marked the top on the steerer – need to cut 8mm above the mark. \u00a0Removed the front wheel and brake from the fork, and then the fork came off. \u00a0Over to the bike shop to have the steerer cut. \u00a0They reset the crown race, it wasn\u2019t fully seated. \u00a0Picked up a 10mm spacer since the extra spacers I have are for a 1\u201d steerer. \u00a0 I’m leaving some extra steerer length until the handlebar fit is dialed in, then I’ll cut it to the final length. \u00a0No hurry on that task.<\/span><\/p>\n Checked the torque on the brake calipers, the derailleurs, the seatpost and saddle clamps, and made sure the shifting is still dialed in. \u00a0All good. \u00a0Now just need some decent weather for a maiden voyage and some photos.<\/span><\/p>\n Remember, without photos it didn’t happen.<\/span><\/p>\n [pydsmugmugslider albumid=”154166880″ albumkey=”7bcspH” albumtype=”tab” imagesize=”ThumbURL” imagelink=”LargeURL” ]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The more complicated tasks are done now, so we’re on to the final few bits (and bobs, if you prefer the British lexicon) of the build.
